FAQs
How will my press release be presented to me for approval?
A PR Account Director will email you direct with your press release both within the email and as an attached word document.
Why should I choose Takeaway PR?
We’re one of the few PR firms in the UK to employ only journalists who have worked extensively within the media and know how to write and pitch your press release to ensure maximum coverage. As former journalists we have great media contacts. Our service is credible and our releases newsworthy.
Who has copyright over my press release?
Whether you choose to let us distribute the release for you or to do so yourself, the release is yours to use on your company literature, website, social networking sites or elsewhere.
Where will my press release be distributed?
Takeaway PR has excellent industry contacts and a wide database of trade and national press. If you decide you’d like us to distribute your release, it will be sent to relevant trade press, regional media in your area (including newspaper, magazines, radio and TV) and to national media. Takeaway PR subscribes to a full media listings service which enables us to select the relevant media for your release.
What will my press release look like when it is released?
Press releases are distributed from a Takeaway PR email address and bear your company logo.
How will I know where my press release appears?
In order to keep your costs down Takeaway PR does not offer a media monitoring service. We can however supply you with a list of publications targeted for you to follow up. In today’s technology-driven world you’ll find some references to where your press release finally appears through a Google search on the web.
How long will it take for my press release to appear in print?
Press releases generally appear online within a couple of days of being distributed on the web. Print deadlines are variable and are heavily dependent on the news agendas of individual publications – it could take anything between a day and weeks.
What qualifications do Takeaway PR Account Directors have?
We’re all qualified journalists with legal training, extensive writing skills, shorthand and skills in interview technique. We have worked in PR for many years, for companies of all sizes including solicitors, landlords, accountants, councils, utilities providers and charities… to name but a few.
What happens if I request changes to my press release?
As long as you highlight any necessary changes to the release, Takeaway PR is happy to send you a second draft for approval.
Why does Takeaway PR limit the number of words within a press release?
Press releases demand a specific style of writing – they should be punchy and written in clear English. It takes real skill to tell a story well within a word limit and makes life easier for the journalists who receive our releases. Often journalists don’t have time to sift through reams of information – that’s where we come in. By presenting your news concisely and without waffle, we’re making a reporter’s life easier and are maximising the chance of your news hitting the headlines.
How does the photography side of Takeaway PR work?
If you've chosen our gold or platinum packages we'll be in touch after you've inputted your details to arrange a suitable time for a photographer to visit. We have an extensive network of talented photographers who take excellent photographs to help illustrate your news. They'll travel to your workplace (or another location if requested) and will spend from 30 minutes to 60 minutes on the photoshoot (depending on the package you choose). After the photoshoot we'll send you a selection of the best photos to choose from - we'll recommend the one we think works best for your story but the final decision rests with you. When you've approved your press release and chosen a photograph we'll release them to relevant titles. You can also request a copy of all the photos taken at your photoshoot on CD for a further £15.
What makes for a newsworthy press release?
News agendas change every day and each publication has a different need. However, there are a few rules of thumb which will help secure maximum possible exposure for your press release. Stories which relate to a recent event or happening, have a wide impact, are unusual or hold interesting statistics may all qualify as newsworthy. You may also seek to put your company in the media spotlight by commenting on an event or topical issue. For the trade press or local media, company growth, new appointments, product or service launches or more wacky happenings may all make for a strong press release. For the national press the prominence of those involved in your news or impact of your news on the wider community will help generate coverage. If you're unsure please contact the team on 0207 061 6400 and we'll tell you if we think your news is newsworthy or not.
What happens if the media have a query about my press release?
Your press release should contain your own nominated contact name, telephone number and email address, and all enquiries willl be directed to that person. If you would like Takeaway PR to handle media enquiries for you call 0207 061 6400 or email team@takeawaypr.co.uk for more information.
